Nigerian artist, Wizkid, has once again ignited discussions among fans after apparently positioning himself as the top artist in the music industry.
Though he did not name anyone directly, fans quickly made connections to the ongoing friendly competition between the “Big 3” of Afrobeats.
In a recent Instagram story update, the multi-award wining Nigerian artiste posted a picture that displayed a wall with the phrase “BIG WIZ, number #1” prominently inscribed on it. The picture also included various items attached to the wall, showing Wiz’s confidence and self-assertiveness.
Wizkid’s post has since led to a range of responses online, with many interpreting it as a subtle shade aimed at his industry rivals, Davido and Burna Boy, who are very often compared to him in conversations regarding Nigeria’s biggest music exports.
With a career that has spanned across 15 years, (2009 – date), winning multiple awards locally and internationally, including the Grammy award, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, remains a major influencer in the music industry and beyond.
